Over the alps to Switzerland

On Friday we had a long drive over from Forli over the alps and into Switzerland. Thankfully the temperature dropped from the 40 deg in Italy down into the 20s which makes the gigs a little less exhausting. We have just finished a very busy weekend with a gig on Friday in a small Swiss village called Rue and then all day workshops on Saturday followed by a Scottish/Swiss ceilidh with a great mix of Scottish, Swiss and French dancing. We have a day off today to catch up with some sleep and then its on the road again tomorrow and into Germany.

France and Italy

We have had a great time so far in our travels, although the weather has been a little hot, with temperatures of around 38 deg in Paris for our gig in the Auld Alliance. After paris we headed south to Orleans where we had another great evening in the St Andrews pub and met some great French musicians.

After some more long drives we made our way to the South of France for a few more gigs in Toulon and then over to a small town near Avignon for more great tunes followed by a few days of traveling over towards Italy stopping briefly in Monte Carlo (only to get moved on by the police for busking :) before heading into Italy. We hearly got tempeted by one of the wee boats but don’t think we’ll make quite enough from this tour…..

In Italy we stopped over in Bologna and then headed to Forli where we had a great gig in a beautiful old church with the Box full of Treasures folk club.

Arrived in France

After many hourPortsmouth harbours in the car we have now maSt Malo Beachde it to the venue for the first of our tour gigs in France, we came over on the overnight ferry last night from Portsmouth where we left just after the sun was setting across the bay and arrived in St Malo shortly after sunrise this morning. Feeling a little tired from the travels but looking forward to getting into the gigs and starting to get used to driving on the right.

Ready for the road

After a busy week of gigs in Edinburgh we are now heading off on our tour to Europe. Heading to Bristol tomorrow and then the ferry to Britany on Monday
